Movie Buffs Associated - Gloria Swanson Logic Puzzle

Every week since its inauguration, the local Movie Buffs Associated have shown a series of movies chosen by a selection panel, determined annually by a ballot of members, in the Municipal Offices function room each evening from Monday to Friday, and starring a particular actor/actress. The selection panel for the current year is Sally Boyden, Mark Thomson, Jessica Farmer, Laurie Davison and Mary Peters.

Last week their choice was Gloria Swanson, and the films chosen - one per member - were Sunset Boulevard (1950), Sadie Thompson (1928), Beyond the Rocks (1922), Tonight or Never (1931), and Three for Bedroom "C" (1952) but not respectively, and neither were they shown in that order, nor in the order in which they were released. Showing time differed each evening. From this information and the following clues, for each member, can you determine who chose which film, the day on which it was shown, and at what time?

  • 1. Tonight or Never opened the week sometime before 8:00 pm.
  • 2. Jessica and Mark each had a showing after 8:00 pm.
  • 3. Miss Farmer was the only woman who had a showing on an even-numbered day.
  • 4. Three for Bedroom "C" and Mr. Davison's choice were released two years apart.
  • 5. Beyond the Rocks was not the choice of any of the women.
  • 6. 7:15 pm was the time of the mid-week showing.
  • 7. The 8:00 pm showing closed the week.
  • 8. Mary chose neither the 1928 release nor that of 1952.
  • 9. The time of showing Mark's choice was 40 minutes later than that of Sunset Boulevard.
  • 10. Sadie Thompson showed on the day before Jessica's choice.
